A Dog Owner Figures Out A Way To Get His Very Nervous Dog To Fall Asleep Every Night

Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for not only starting your day on the right foot, but also for being healthier overall.

Unfortunately, a very nervous dog by the name of Bailey has had some trouble getting through the night.

Bailey is a rescue pup who had been adopted by Mac Clennely back in 2020.

Even though Mac and Bailey fell in love as soon as they laid eyes on each other, Mac quickly realized that Bailey had some fears that she needed to battle with.

“When we met with her wonderful foster mom, she told us that Bailey [was] one of the most scared and timid dogs [she’d] ever come across,” said Mac.

Upon finding this out, Mac quickly started working with a behaviorist in order to help this pup as much as he could.

She would jump off the back of the couch and run whenever I entered the living room. It took six-plus months before she got comfortable with me even approaching her.

Within the first couple of nights of them being together, Mac noticed that his pup hadn’t been sleeping well.

Night Routine

After looking for ways that would help Bailey fall asleep, Mac found the cutest and most perfect thing that quickly became a part of their bedtime routine every single night.

Whenever we would snuggle with blankets on the couch, Bailey felt much more comfortable and calmer whenever she was wrapped or covered with a blanket.

So, Mac started to wrap Bailey up in a blanket as if she were a little adorable burrito.

Ever since, this pup has been sleeping like a baby every single night.

What started off as a little joke turned into the best and cutest thing ever!

We did it once as a bit of a tease at bedtime, and when she snuggled into it, we decided to leave her. [We] woke up the next morning and she was still tucked in, so we started to do it every night.

Bailey also has a little cuddle buddy who is also her very best friend – an orange tabby cat by the name of Penny.

They will snuggle together, and Penny will tease Bailey with her tail. Bailey acts like she wants to chase Penny whenever she gets zoomies, but she knows there’s no chance of her catching her.

Lesson Learned

Knowing how a night of good sleep can affect not only your day, but your entire life, I’m super happy to see that Mac found a way to give Bailey the best sleep ever every single night.

However, Bailey wasn’t the only one who benefited from the adoption.

Getting through to her and showing her a kinder world meant months and years of patience and understanding. She is now going with us to parks, stores [and] breweries. She is becoming her best self.

In today’s world, lessons about patience are always very much welcomed and encouraged, as it is always needed.

Bailey didn’t only teach her family something, but us as well, reminding us that there is always a way to get out of tricky situations, we just have to be a little creative and have the right people around.

Good job, Bailey!
