My sister canceled her wedding but the truth made me devise a revenge plan

After Lizzy suddenly canceled her wedding and told everyone that hotel reservations were non-refundable, her brother, David, visited the hotel to take advantage of her stay. What he discovered at the scene sparked a daring plan to uncover a deceitful boyfriend and restore her sister’s tarnished reputation.

I’m David, Lizzy’s older brother and her only sibling. Six months ago, Lizzy surprised everyone by calling off her wedding.

She said with teary eyes, “David, I can’t go through with the wedding, not without Grandma being here to see it.”

Our grandmother passed away shortly after finalizing all the wedding plans and Lizzy felt like she couldn’t celebrate such an important day without her.

Despite their decision, we did not cancel any of the wedding reservations.

Lizzy said: “Bookings are non-refundable, David. It seems pointless to waste all that money.”

As a result, the venue, catering, and even hotel stays were still on hold in his name. It made sense financially, but emotionally, it just added to the heaviness of his decision.

Little did I know, the real story was much more complicated and I would soon find myself deeply involved.

Since my flights were already booked, I decided to stay at the hotel for free. Upon entering the hotel, I noticed that the wedding decorations were still intact.

“It’s sad that it’s of no use anymore,” I thought as I walked towards the reception.

“Hello, I’m checking in,” I said to the receptionist, showing her the reservation on my phone.

“Wait a moment, sir,” he responded as he verified my reservation.

Looking around the hotel, I could see staff moving from one end to the other, apparently preparing for an event.

“Ah, you’re here for the wedding!” chirped the receptionist.

“Yes, I was,” I said. “But now I’m just using the reserve since the wedding was cancelled.”

“Sir, the wedding has started,” the receptionist looked at me confused. “The first event starts at 3 pm”

“What do you mean?” I asked, surprised.

“Here is the itinerary, sir,” he handed me a tablet with the details of the event. “You can have a look”.

Sliding my finger across the screen, I read the groom’s name. It was Mike, my sister’s ex.

“How is this possible?” I gasped in shock.

Mike was about to marry another woman at the same hotel Lizzy had booked for her wedding. The place was ready for Mike to marry another woman.

I immediately took my phone out of my pocket and called Lizzy.

Lizzy answered after the first ring, her voice tinged with confusion and concern. “David, what’s wrong? Why are you calling me from the hotel?

“Lizzy, you’re not going to believe this,” I began, my voice shaking with anger and disbelief. “I’m at the hotel and the receptionist just told me that the wedding is still going on. Mike is getting married today, at 3 in the afternoon, but not with you, with another woman!

There was a pause, a heavy silence on the line.

“What are you talking about, David? That can’t be right,” Lizzy finally responded, her voice breaking.

“It’s true, Liz. I saw the itinerary. Her name is there with someone else’s. How can this be happening? Didn’t you cancel everything?

Lizzy sighed deeply. “I… I didn’t cancel the wedding because of Grandma David. I found out that Mike was cheating on me. “I couldn’t move on, but I didn’t know how to tell everyone the real reason.”

I clenched my fists, feeling a surge of protectiveness and rage.

“Why did you not tell me? “It would have helped you deal with this mess.”

“I felt embarrassed, David.”

“We need to clear his name,” I said firmly. “We can’t let Mike get away with this. He’s making it look like you backed out, and he’s the victim here. “Everyone thinks you are to blame.”

“I know, but what can we do now?” Lizzy asked helplessly.

I paced back and forth, thinking quickly. “I’m going to lay it out, Liz. “I’ll show everyone who he really is.”

With a plan forming in my mind, I rushed to speak to some of the hotel staff I had seen set up earlier. I needed privileged information and proof.

A kind waiter whom I recognized from setting up the ballroom listened as I explained the situation.

“I can help you,” he said after I finished. “Mike has been bragging to everyone here about dodging a bullet with your sister. He’s been using his phone a lot. Maybe you’ll find something there.”

“Can you give me access to his room?” I asked, hoping it was possible.

“Leave it to me,” said the waiter.

An hour later, he was inside Mike’s room, thanks to the spare key card the waiter had managed to obtain.

I quickly found his phone charging on the nightstand. His carelessness was his downfall; she hadn’t even bothered to use a password.

I reviewed his messages and emails and found more than enough evidence of his infidelity. I took screenshots and emailed everything to myself.

Then, I called a friend who had experience with computers.

“Tom, I need a big favor. Can you prepare a slideshow of these screenshots? It has to be ready to display at a wedding… today.”

“Give me an hour,” he said.

With everything in place, I returned to the wedding venue. I met Tom there and he uploaded the presentation to the AV system.

I was ready with my revenge.

The ceremony was about to begin. The guests filled the room, murmuring happily, unaware of the drama that was about to unfold. I stood near the back, my heart pounding.

When the lights dimmed and the first slide of the romantic presentation appeared, I used the remote control Tom had given me and changed it to our presentation.

The room fell silent as the first incriminating message filled the screen, followed by another, and then another.

Gasps and murmurs spread through the crowd as Mike’s betrayal unfolded.

Mike’s face paled as his secrets were exposed. Meanwhile, his devastated girlfriend ran out of the room.

The guests, in shock, murmured among themselves. Some consoled Lizzy, who had just arrived.

In the midst of the chaos, I confronted Mike.

“Everyone knows the truth about you now,” I said quietly. “You can’t hide anymore.”

Many guests apologized to Lizzy for believing Mike’s lies, as her reputation fell apart – her personal and professional life shattered by the truth.

As the guests dispersed, Lizzy hugged me with tears of relief in her eyes. “Thank you, David,” she whispered. “You have given me the opportunity to move forward.”
