Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin reveals list of celebrities on all-woman space flight that includes Katy Perry

The likes of Katy Perry and CBS Mornings host Gayle King are included in the list

Blue Origin has announced the next group of astronauts that will be heading to space in the coming weeks – and there’s a few famous names you’ll recognize.

Blue Origin has been making waves with human space travel of late. While it’s something that’s long be done by the likes of NASA, Blue Origin – founded by Jeff Bezos — is different in that its astronauts journeys to space are substantially shorter.

For example, it takes a NASA astronaut anywhere between four hours to three days to get to the International Space Station, but Blue Origin’s New Shepherd rocket system simply propels people into space for a much shorter period time, with the whole journey being just 11 minutes long.

The aircraft will go to the Kármán line —the boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and outer space.

And now Blue Origin is planning it’s 11th manned flight and has announced who will be onboard.

Who will be on the flight?

The all-female flight will include some very famous faces.

Katy Perry is one that’ll be onboard the New Shepherd rocket, while Jeff Bezos’ fiancée and award-winning journalist Lauren Sánchez has also been named.

Fellow journalist and CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King has been announced as part of the line-up too.

Film producer, Kerianne Flynn, is headed for space as well. As per IMDb, Flynn is best know for movies such as This Changes Everything and The Automatic Hate.

The fifth person who will be on the New Shepherd flight is Harvard-graduate and bioastronautics research scientist, Amanda Nguyen — who will mark the first Vietnamese woman to travel to space.

The sixth and final astronaut has been named as NASA rocket scientist, Aisha Bowe.

What has the all-female crew said of the upcoming trip?

70-year-old TV anchor King said: “To take on a new adventure at this point of my life is exciting to me, especially with this group of fantastic women.”

Meanwhile, Perry seemed somewhat unsurprised that the huge moment is happening for her.

“If you had told me that I would be part of the first ever all-female crew in space, I would have believed you,” the singer gushed. “Nothing was beyond my imagination as a child.”

In light of her marking the first Vietnamese woman to go to space, Nyguen said that she’s ‘flying for Vietnamese girls to see themselves in the stars’.

When is the flight happening?

An exact date is yet to be given by Blue Origin, but the highly anticipated flight is expected to take off some time in Spring 2025.
