Not all animals were born with perfection. They have some born ꜰᴇᴀᴛᴜʀᴇs that make them different from their siblings or others of their breed. The dog in today’s story had a tough life as a puppy. He was born with a facial ᴅᴇꜰᴏʀᴍɪᴛʏ that got him ᴀʙᴀɴᴅᴏɴᴇᴅ twice. Luckily, the ᴘᴏᴏʀ doggie now finds his forever family and enjoys living here. Keep scrolling!
Beaux is the name of the dog. He is an adorable Labrador with a sᴜɴᴋᴇɴ ᴄʀᴀɴɪᴜᴍ or a “sǫᴜɪsʜᴇᴅ face.” His facial ᴅᴇꜰᴏʀᴍɪᴛʏ caused him an ᴜɴʜᴀᴘᴘʏ childhood until his human mom found him and offered him a family. His happy life has just begun. Even though Beaux’s imperfection doesn’t affect his abilities, no one was willing to buy him from the ʙʀᴇᴇᴅᴇʀs. The ᴘᴏᴏʀ pup was finally given away for free.
Some might be put off by Beaux’s unique look, but for Jamie Hulit, a single photo was all it took to convince her that the yellow Lᴀʙ’s life was worth saving. Hulit said: “A friend of mine posted a picture of Beaux on Facebook saying he needed a foster or to be adopted – anything. That day I sent him a message saying, ‘I would love to take that dog in and give him a home.’” Hulit noted: “He just kind of got ᴘᴜsʜᴇᴅ out of the way, and formed how he formed, but it has nothing to do with his intelligence.” She said an M.R.I confirmed that the head ᴅᴇꜰᴏʀᴍɪᴛʏ did not affect his personality or his chances at living a long, healthy life.
But that’s not all. The “for-free” ᴘᴏᴏʀ pup didn’t have a better life. He was ᴀʙᴀɴᴅᴏɴᴇᴅ twice. Beaux was ɴᴇɢʟᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ and forced to stay alone in the backyard, ᴛɪᴇᴅ ᴜᴘ by the couple who adopted him. They didn’t care much for the ᴘᴏᴏʀ dog as he had ꜰʟᴇᴀs. Ultimately, when they decided to move, they sent him out for another adoption. It is when Jamie spotted the imperfect dog. She said that she was “ʜᴏʀʀɪꜰɪᴇᴅ” at the situation Beaux. He got ᴍᴀʟɴᴜᴛʀɪᴛɪᴏɴ, weighing only 42 pounds (19 kgs) and had ᴡᴏʀᴍs. The woman didn’t hesitate to bring him into her home and showed him love for the first time in his life.
Jamie took him to the ᴠᴇᴛs for checkups and necessary ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛs. As weeks turned to months, he slowly put on weight, and was finally strong enough to go through ʜᴇᴀʀᴛᴡᴏʀᴍ treatment. Though he had ʟᴏsᴛ ʜᴇᴀʀɪɴɢ in his left ear due to the ear mite ᴅᴀᴍᴀɢᴇ and still has trouble seeing out of his right eye, Beaux was finally given a clean bill of health. Since arriving at Hulit’s home, Beaux has transformed completely. “He was an outside dog, but you’d never know because he does not want to go outside,” she said. “He’ll go out if you do, but if you stay in, he’ll stand right by the door and look through the window.”
Although the journey was slow, Beaux went through and is happier than ever. Beaux is finally getting the love he deserves. Beaux is fully embracing his new life, acting as hyper and joyful as a puppy. And his mom almost can’t believe just how far he’s come. Beaux and Jamie are now inseparable. The dog also has a 15-year-old brother, Riley, and they get along perfectly. They love spending time together, from sleeping to playing, to walking.
