Longest shelter resident falls asleep smiling when he finally finds a family

That expression is a dog’s grin as he recognizes his home.

The rescuers who were working to find him a home after he had been neglected for much too long were moved by the grin of an adopted dog. Petey, a dog who was passed over by potential adopters and transferred from a high admission shelter in North Carolina to SPCA Wake in early October, got an update on his adoption from the SPCA of Wake County.

At barely one year old, Petey had spent the most time living at the county shelter in North Carolina. The shelter wanted to increase his chances of finding his family.

SPCA Wake posted a picture of him in the hopes that a family would see him this time. After seeing his picture, a family soon fell in love with him.

They brought him home, and then shared some adorable pictures of him cuddling and playing with his new family and furry sibling. Additionally, a picture of Petey curled up on a blanket with a large grin on his face was published.

The shelter said on Facebook, “Who is the grin of a dog that knows he’s home.”

Petey’s new family said that he is adjusting to his new residence well. He likes to retrieve things, lie on the bed, and explore the yard. And he loves playing with every other dog he meets, as well as his new brother. Petey is the perfect addition since he is appreciated and showing off his endearing side. I’m glad to have him around.

Additionally, Petey is overjoyed to receive them!
