It’s graduation season once more, and many deserving students are receiving their diplomas and celebrating years of hard work. But among the graduates at Seton Hall University was an unexpected — and lovely — expression.
Justin, a service dog who belongs to graduating student Grace Mariani, stepped on stage to get an honorary diploma after assisting his owner through classes for the past four years.

When Grace, who is in a wheelchair, got her degree on stage at Newark’s Prudential Center, Justin stole the show by accompanying her – and receiving his own honorary degree!
Seton Hall President Joseph E. Nyre delivered the rolled-up degree to the nice dog, who enthusiastically grabbed it in his teeth.

Grace aspires to teach elementary school and special education, according to Gray News/TMX, and will have her devoted dog Justin at her side the entire while.

Service dogs are very helpful to those who use them, and Justin did an incredible job helping his pal go through school the past four years – he definitely earned his degree! We can’t wait to see what these two come up with next!
